The Emory Mental Health & Development Program is a research program associated with the Psychology Department at Emory University and directed by Dr. Elaine Walker. We are funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the largest scientific organization in the world dedicated to research focused on the understanding of mental illness. Our program works primarily with individuals who might be a risk for developing a mental illness.
The purpose of our program is:
- To develop a knowledge base for the prediction of future mental health problems in adolescents and young adults who have symptoms that may signal the early stage of such a condition
- To understand how brain functioning changes over time in people who develop mental health problems compared to those who do not
We are located on the main Emory University Campus in Atlanta, GA.
